Charlotte D. Taft, 80, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Saturday evening, June 9 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
She was born January 9, 1938 in Windsor the daughter of William Earl and Charlotte (Lowery) Dow. She received her schooling in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1956. She married William R. Taft in Brownsville in February of 1973. Charlotte was employed at the former Cone Blanchard Machine Tool Company in Windsor for over forty years until the plant closed. She later was employed by the Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union for ten years until her retirement.
She was fond of cooking, baking, the outdoors and nature. She was an avid supporter of the Windsor Athletic Program, especially football. Charlotte was known to see the best in everything and everyone. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents and by one sister, Patricia Harford. Survivors include her husband of forty five years, William R. Taft, two sons, David Taft and James Taft and his wife, Leesa, all of Windsor, four daughters, Melanie Peters of Bonneau, SC, Sherrie Taft of Windsor, Kim Paquette and her husband, Mike of Ascutney and Kathy Smith of Windsor, one sister, Joyce Dow of Windsor, two brothers, William Dow of Manchester, CT and Richard Dow of Windsor, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Windsor High School Activities Fund to be used for the Needy Children's Christmas Fund at 19 Ascutney Street Windsor, VT 05089, attention of Terri Hage.
The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor is entrusted with the arrangements.
