Strafford, VT - Charles N. "Skip" Soule III, 65, died Sunday January 2nd at home in Strafford.
He was born May 7, 1945 in Tuscaloosa, AL a son of Edith and Charles N. Soule Jr. After Skip graduated from high school he enlisted in the US Navy, serving for several years before his marriage to Beverly Atkinson in 1965. They lived in Nashua for a time before moving to the Upper Valley including Hartland and for the past sixteen years in Strafford. While in the Upper Valley Skip worked for LADCO at the Lebanon Airport as a pilot, and later in sales at Merriam-Graves in White River Jct. and most recently as a General Contractor, building homes in the Upper Valley.
Skip served as a mentor to many young men and was very passionate about his hobbies including hunting, fishing, panning for gold and harvesting ginseng root.
He was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Soule and a brother Malcolm Soule.
He is survived by his wife Beverly of Strafford, VT, a son Charles N. Soule IV of Bedford, VA, two daughters Lori Getman of West Lebanon, NH and Melissa Hallett of Blaine, ME, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, three brothers Harold Soule of Winchester, VA, George Soule of Daytona, FL and Jonathan Soule of Concord, NH, a sister Charlene Christian of Jaffrey, NH and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday January 6th at 11AM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. with the Rev. G. Edward Brayman officiating. Burial will be in the Spring in the Hartford Cemetery.
