Obituary

Windsor, VT – Charles G. "Charlie" Reed, 60, died unexpectedly, Monday morning, October 21, 2024 at his home in Windsor, VT.  He was born on September 29, 1964 in Keene, New Hampshire, the son of Ronald E. and Nellie (Cochran) Reed.   He grew up in North Hartland, VT and attended Hartford High School. Charlie was a bartender, and he was passionate about it. He liked the people, was a strong listener combined with his friendly, layback personality and a sincere interest in folks that made it easy for him to connect with his patroons.  It came so easy to him, that he turned it into a lifelong career.

Charlie had very close ties to his mother, Nellie and his sister, Debbie and as they moved around he followed.  He had lived in several states including, New York, Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia, always bringing along his bar tending skills that landed him jobs at area ventures.   More locally he bar tended at Windsor Elk's Lodge, the Common Man Restaurant in Claremont, NH but primarily at Applebee's Restaurant in West Lebanon where he worked for many years.

When he wasn't serving drinks, he could be found golfing at area Country Clubs, especially the Windsor County Club.  He enjoyed fishing, swimming, going to concerts, amusement parks, Six Flags was his favorite, and spending time camping with his nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.  He was very outgoing and such a fun-loving person to spend time with.  So much so that he definitely earned him the title of "favorite Uncle" among the many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Ronald, who died in 2012 and his beloved sister, Debbie Maheu who died in 2005.  He was also predeceased by an infant brother Kevin Reed.

Charlie is survived by Nellie, his mother, who he lived with and cared for, two brothers, Stephen Reed and his wife Esperanza of Rogers, Arkansas, Anthony "Tony" Reed and his fiancé Frannie of Springfield, VT, sister, Cheryl Ray and her husband, Kevin of Rogers, Arkansas, and several other beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
