Wilder, VT – Catherine Julia Gillen, 85, passed away at her home in Wilder Wednesday December 8th.
She was born March 12, 1925 in Lebanon, NH to Harry and Esther (Benjamin) LaHaye, the oldest of twelve children.
Catherine graduated from Lebanon High School and was later married to the love of her life, Frederick Gillen, June 14, 1947. They lived in Wilder all of the forty nine years of their married lives where they raised their two daughters Donna and Shirley. She worked at the Hanover Inn for thirty two years.
Catherine, also known as Kitty and G Mom, loved life and was a very young "85". She loved BINGO, the holidays, politics, sports, especially the New York Yankees and her granddogs. More than anything her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought joy into her life.
She was predeceased by her husband Fred March 17, 1996, an infant daughter Linda Lee Gillen May 10, 1948, a son-in-law Michael St. Peter September 2, 2008 as well as several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters Donna St. Peter of Wilder and Shirley St. Peter and her husband Rick of South Strafford, VT, granddaughter Gretchen St. Peter Tremblay and her husband Ryan of Quechee; grandson Boe St. Peter and his wife Amy and children Cealin and Elizabeth of Peoria, AZ; sisters Isabelle Boisvert and Roxanne Smith; brothers Lewis LaHaye and Frank LaHaye.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. Sunday at 10AM followed by a reception.
