Carroll Jay Wells (known as 'CJ') of Windsor, Vermont passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the age of 64 at Sullivan County Health Care, surrounded by his loving siblings. CJ had a kind heart and adventurous soul, whose beaming smile and spirited laugh would elevate the many stories he shared with friends and family.

CJ was born January 5, 1961, in Windsor to Carroll and Barbara (Robinson) Wells. He grew up on Brook Road and spent his youth taking part in neighborhood antics and good-natured mischief. After graduating from Windsor High School in 1980, he worked at a variety of local businesses which included Claremont Flock, Tristate Timber, Simon Pearce Glass, Land Air Express, and Whelen. He was known for his hard work, dedication, and the pride he took in the work he did.

As an avid outdoorsman, CJ went on many unforgettable journeys behind the wheel of his beloved old jeep. These adventures included hunting on Mount Ascutney, fishing in local waters, and week-long camping trips where he loved panning for gold. Family meant the world to him and so he never missed the annual Wells Family Reunion, winning horseshoe tournaments and trading stories with his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

CJ was preceded in death by his father, Carroll. He is survived by his mother, Barbara of Ascutney, VT; brother, Tony Wells (Sharon) of Windsor, VT; sister, Deborah Crotts (Timothy) of Naples, FL; sister, Valerie Davidson (Jodi) of Ascutney, VT; nieces, Amy, Stacey, Sarah, Krystle, Gabbi, and nephew, Anthony. He also leaves behind best friend, Matt Fotion, who looked after and supported him during his battle with cancer.

His family would like to thank the staff at the Valley Regional Kane Center, Sullivan County Health Care, and Lake Sunapee VNA & Hospice Care for their compassionate care and invaluable assistance.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT, where friends and family are invited to pay their respects.
