IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn May
Eastman Milo
September 13, 1937 – March 4, 2024
Claremont, NH – Carolyn May Eastman Milo, 86, passed away in Lebanon, NH at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on Monday, March 4, 2024. Carolyn was the second child of Nelson and Nellie May (Dillingham) Eastman, born on September 13, 1937, in Duxbury, VT. Her childhood was spent in Waterbury VT, where she gained a lifelong talent in fancywork and a dedication and love of family from her mother. She married Stanley James Milo there on March 16, 1957, and they enjoyed a 36-year marriage until his passing in 1993. She was an excellent mother, providing a safe and loving home to not only four sons, but also countless foster children/others in Hanover and later in Plainfield NH. The young family enjoyed annual camping trips to Groton Pond in Vermont as well as to other locations throughout Vermont and New Hampshire.
Carolyn learned to knit and crochet from her mother early on and she followed her mother's example of creating finished hats, mittens, baby outfits, hand towels and other hand-crafted gifts as an extension of her love of her family and friends. This was a family tradition that she passed down to her granddaughters. She and her longtime friend Cindy LaFlam spent many weekends together at local craft fairs and flea-markets, socializing with other friends and selling and trading her handmade items. She and Cindy also combed yard sales together, often finding treasures that Carolyn would add to one of her many collections.
Carolyn was a talented pianist and vocalist. For many years the large extended family would gather at her sister Janice's home for Christmas and as she played, the family gathered round and sang carols together. In Plainfield, she was very involved in the Church community, singing in the choir for services. In the early 2000's she moved to Claremont, and she soon made wonderful connections and friendships there, too. She was able to stay in her apartment until just a few days prior to her passing thanks to the tremendous support of her family and community, including Angela, her personal care assistant of more than 10 years.
Carolyn is survived by four sons Bruce J. Milo and former spouse Doreen of Rutland, VT, Todd N. Milo, Sr. and partner Patty J. Spencer of Plainfield, NH, Victor S. Milo and wife Kathy of Plainfield, and Glenn S. Milo of Las Vegas, NV; a "fifth son", Winston F. Spencer, Jr. of Plainfield; grandchildren Katrina (Sandy), Vanessa (Kevin), Todd Jr. (Courtney), Nickole (Evan), Danielle, and Amanda (Rob); great grandchildren Grace, Teagan, and Calin; other relatives and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband and three siblings Janice Graves, Nancy Peters, and Arnold Eastman.
A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held from noon until 5pm on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Plainfield Town Hall, Route 12A, Plainfield, NH. Her family would like to thank ALL the employees and staff at Dartmouth Health for the kindness and excellent care provided throughout the years. In memory of Carolyn, please reach out and embrace your family and friends, share a handmade gift, or donate to a charity near and dear to your heart.
