Obituary

Quechee, Vermont – Carol E. Patton, 80, of Quechee, Vermont died on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, New Hampshire, with her family by her side. Carol was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on July 12, 1941, to Frederick and Marguerite (Rietze) Menzenhauer. She was married to David Patton for just shy of 29 years before he passed away in August of 1995.

Carol loved well, was generous, and in return was well-loved by so many. She enjoyed people and making meaningful connections with others; as a result, her friendships were long lasting. She enjoyed handywork, tennis, cross-country skiing, volunteering with her children's school and activities, and helping others. For 20 plus years, she spent her summers volunteering at David's House helping families while their children underwent treatment at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. She cherished time with her family and was an ever-present mother. Similarly, later in life, her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

During her time living in New Jersey and Vermont, Carol worked as an administrative assistant in higher education settings.

She is survived by her two children Scott Patton and wife Robin of Asbury, New Jersey and Dyan Earle and husband Bruce of North Pomfret, Vermont; two siblings Virginia Novick of Brick, New Jersey and Robert Menzenhauer of Brownsville, Vermont; four grandchildren Tyler, Caitlyn, Gregory, and Jameson; nieces and nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A service in remembrance of Carol will be held at a later date at St. James Episcopal Church in Woodstock, Vermont. Donations in her memory are appreciated to: David's House or the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care, Lebanon, NH.

Knight Funeral Home of White River Junction is honored to be entrusted with Carol's arrangements and online condolences to her family are invited at www.knightfunerahomes.com
