Perkinsville, VT – Carol A. Fitch, 71, died Thursday afternoon, December 12, 2019 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born January 6, 1948 in Springfield, VT the daughter of Henry and Viola (Bingham) Ferguson.
She grew up on the family farm (Ferguson Farm) and graduated from SpringfieldHigh School in (1966). Carol went on to further her education at Wards School of Business in Worcester, MA and received her degree in 1968. On July 4, 1970 she married Graham A. Fitch and they made their home in Perkinsville, VT.
Carol was a switchboard operator for over twenty-five years at the Springfield Hospital in Springfield, VT before she went to work at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in 2008 in White River Jct., VT. Carol's health forced her to retire early in 2015.
Carol loved horses and rode as a young girl, later on she took up carriage driving and shared her love of horses with her daughters. She gave riding lessons for many years. She also loved Cocker Spaniels and raised them for over ten years.
Carol also enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing, camping, going to the ocean, and working in her flower gardens. Most of all she loved watching her daughters ride.
She was predeceased by her sister, Joan LaClaire and her brother, Paul Ferguson.
Carol is survived by her husband, Graham, two daughters, Deborah Chambers and fiancé Jason McDonough of Berlin, NH and Jennifer Fitch and her partner, Randy Perry of West Windsor, VT. Her grandchildren, Melodee Chambers, Hunter Chambers and Addisyn McDonough and her step brother, Lydon McDonough. Her brother Keith Ferguson and wife Gail of Springfield, VT, brother-in-law, Lenny LaClaire of Everetts, MA, brother-in-law Gregory Fitch of Pensacola, FL. sister-in-law Sue Ferguson of Springfield, VT. as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Life Celebration will be held at a later date in the springtime at the Ferguson farm in Springfield, VT. A private burial will be held in the Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney, VT also in the springtime.
