IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brenda G.
Johnson
November 13, 1963 – September 27, 2025
Brenda Johnson, 61, a lifelong resident of Windsor, died at home on Saturday, September 27, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Brenda was born on November 13, 1963, at the old Windsor Hospital, a daughter of Edwin and Josephine (Dunbar) Sprague. She was raised Windsor, proudly earning her diploma later in life. Brenda met the love of her life, Peter Johnson, through a high school friend. They married on May 7, 1983, beginning a 42-year journey of partnership and devotion.
Over the years, Brenda built a life rooted in hard work and community. She held many roles, beginning with the brunch bar in Windsor, and later working as a seamstress at Carter Co., making denim clothing. She also enjoyed time at the Mount Ascutney Resort, where she started as a housekeeper and worked her way up to head housekeeping supervisor. Brenda remained with the resort for many years, becoming a familiar and respected presence until its closure. Never one to sit still, she went on to build her own housekeeping business, working for Dick Bullard's Real Estate and caring for condos and rentals.
Brenda loved her gardens. For years, she cultivated a large garden with her mom on Bridge Street, selling produce on Saturdays from a stand on Central Street. Her flowers, especially her cherished roses, were a source of joy and beauty to all who knew her. Animals held a special place in Brenda's heart, sharing their home with many cats and golden retrievers over the years. Additionally, Brenda especially enjoyed the tradition of Windsor's annual Autumn Moon Festival, always creating a display to sell goods with her husband.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents, and a sister, Debbie Sprague. Brenda leaves behind her husband, Peter Johnson, their two dogs, Buddy and Lily; her brother, Brian Sprague and his wife Carrol of Hartland, and her sister, Lorraine and her husband Al Brooks of Milton, VT, as well as several nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place in the Ascutney Cemetery on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11am. Please dress casually. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite humane society. The family wishes to extend gratitude to Bayada Hospice for the care they provided.
