West Lebanon, NH – Brenda B. Johnson, 82, died peacefully Saturday June 24, 2017 surrounded by her family at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH following a brief illness.
She was born May 15, 1935 in North Walpole, NH. Brenda grew up and attended school in South Royalton, VT and graduated from South Royalton High School. She was married to Nelson "Sonny" Johnson June 22, 1958 in South Royalton and they made their home in West Lebanon where they spent all of their married lives. Brenda had a thirty plus year career with Vermont Transit Bus Lines, mostly as a bookkeeper and Ticket agent, but returned to work after several retirement parties to continue working with the company.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons, and was always up for a family gathering. She also enjoyed travelling with family and friends, including several cruises with her co-workers at Vermont Transit. In her retirement she became an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and NASCAR racing.
Brenda was predeceased by her husband, Sonny, in 2010 and a daughter Betty McCullough in 1996.
She is survived by her son Guy Johnson of Dunbarton, NH, son-in-law Robert McCullough and grandsons Robert, Cameron and Cory McCullough all of Lexington, MA; siblings Melvin Bean of Wilder, VT and Destin, FL, Carlene Dunn of Destin, FL, Carl Bean of Lighthouse Point FL, Sharon Beauregard of Woodstock, VT, Georgia Bean of Lebanon, NH, Billy Farley of Unity, NH and Patricia Kinney of Saxtons River VT, sisters-in-law Jackie Jacobs of White River Jct., VT and Joyce Caswell of Chesapeake, VA as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., on Friday June 30thfrom 6-8PM. A funeral service will be held at the West Lebanon Congregational Church Saturday July 1st at 1PM
