Berlin, VT – Beverly "Bev" Hinkley Thomas, 94, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023, surrounded by her family at Woodridge Nursing Facility in Berlin. She was born on November 26, 1928, to Harland and Maybelle (Danforth) Hinkley, grew up in Weathersfield, VT, and graduated from Windsor High School. She married Robert Thomas. They settled in South Royalton and raised their family there.
Bev served as treasurer for the town of South Royalton for eight years and was also a correspondent for the Randolph Herald for many years. She was a member of the Woman's Club, Better Homes Club, and United Church Women. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed crafts. She made beautiful braided rugs throughout the years. She loved her family and enjoyed time spent together.
She is survived by her two daughters Susan Benson and husband Leon of South Royalton, VT and Judith Toom and husband Mati of Colchester, VT; sister Barbara Green; son-in-law Ronald Stender; four grandchildren Alan and Shawn Stender, Sarah Benson Hull, and Joshua Benson; eight great grandchildren Jonathan, Morgan, Owen, Greta, Bradley, Brooklynn, Dakota, and Lyndsey; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Bev was predeceased by her parents, husband Bob, two daughters Mary Jane Stender and Kristeen Thomas, and siblings Larry, Arthur, Dorothy, Robert, Stanley, Richard, Roger, George, and Evered.
At Bev and Bob's request, there will be no public services. They will be interred together at the Brownsville Cemetery in West Windsor, VT at the convenience of their family.
