Wilder, VT- Betty Jean(Carr) Marsh, 62, died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
Betty was born April 27, 1954 in Holyoke, MA, daughter of Robert and Pauline (Gonyer) Carr. She grew up in Lebanon, NH and attended Lebanon High School. Betty lived in the Upper Valley until her son Ronnie started school at Austine School for the Deaf in Brattleboro, VT and later to Greenfield, MA. Where she worked as a home health aide, and refurbished antiques. Betty returned to the Upper Valley in 2009 after a major stroke in 2008, to be closer to her mom and sisters.
Betty truly valued her time with family and friends, loved animals and children. She enjoyed walking in Greenfield as well as time on her daughters small farm in Ackworth, NH, baking and watching movies with her granddaughter, nature, crafts, and wearing her unique hats. She appreciated music and taught herself to play guitar. In her later years she continued to enjoy the outdoors and her friends at Springfield Adult Day. She loved her hippie friends but always had a classic dignified elegance about her.
Betty is predeceased by her daughter Rhonda Marsh; father, Robert L Carr; mother, Pauline A Papineau; step-father, Lawrence Papineau; a brother John R Carr; and step brother James A. Papineau.
Betty is survived by two sons, Ronald Marsh of Turners Falls, MA Jeremiah Smith of Greenfield, MA; a granddaughter, Ashley Christian of Ashburnham, MA; two sisters Jeanette Carr and Sherry Papineau both of Wilder, VT; step-sister Pamela Labounty of Muskegon Heights, MI; step-brother Lawrence Papineau of White River Junction, VT and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, at 11AM at the West Lebanon Congregational Church in West Lebanon, NH.
In lieu of flowers please wear your favorite hat to the service and throughout the day for Betty.
