IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty L.
Langlois
November 25, 1942 – November 11, 2022
Betty L. Langlois, 79, died Friday November 11, 2022, at Hanover Terrace Healthcare in Hanover, NH.
Betty was born November 25, 1942, in Hanover, NH a daughter of Daniel T. and Sylvia M. (Waterman) Smith. She grew up on the family farm on Bradley Hill in Norwich where she has lived all her life. After her graduation from Hanover High School class of 1960, she worked at and Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover and later Dartmouth College until the birth of her son. She was married to Albert L. Langlois in 1962 and they built a home on Bradley Hill where they raised their family.
Betty loved her life taking care of her family and working the farm. She was a great cook, her family especially enjoyed her baked beans, biscuits and gravy and her stews. She grew and canned vegetables from her garden; was talented at knitting and sewing; and kept track of the family genealogy and family history. Betty also spent many hours working the farm including tedding and raking hay with her McCormick tractor as well as helping her son raise his Hereford cattle and Holstein Oxen. She worked with Jake, one of the oxen pair, when she would accompany her son to fairs. Betty loved connecting with nature, including taking walks around Bradley Hill with one of her Sheltie dogs (she had three over the years including her last dog, Chief) and keeping a journal of the weather and farm activities each year. She also enjoyed her time volunteering at the Norwich Library.
Betty leaves her husband of sixty years, Albert; son Mark S. Langlois (Stephanie Johnson); and grandson Jackson A. Langlois all of Norwich as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Carl, Kenneth, Daniel, and Fred Smith.
