Obituary
White River Junction- Bettie S. Madore of White River Junction died Sunday, January 24, 2010, at her house. She was 74.
She was born in Friendship, NY on February 6, 1935, a daughter of Jesse Harman Sherwood and Myrtle May (Sherwood) Sherwood.
Mrs. Madore grew up in Shinglehouse, PA and graduated from Shinglehouse High School in 1953. She graduated from the Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing obtaining a Registered Nursing Degree in 1956. She accepted employment at the Sunmount Veterans Administration Hospital in Tupper Lake, NY during the same year.
Bettie married the late Lawrence J. Madore on October 31, 1956 in Tupper Lake, NY and gave birth to two children, Kimberly and Donald. Bettie and Lawrence transferred their employment to the White River Jct. Veterans Administration Center in 1965. Mrs. Madore retired from the V.A. in 1974 due to disability.
Her survivors include one daughter and son-in-law Kimberly Madore Newman and Dr. Edward Newman of Helena, MT; a son, Donald Madore of White River Jct., VT; a step-daughter, Mrs Margaret Arons of Millington, NJ; one sister, Mrs. Doretha Guthria of Ontario, Canada; four grand children; and two great grandsons.
Previously, she survived three deceased brothers and one deceased sister. Mrs. Madore enjoyed the sound of song birds, painting, quilting, and canning.
There will be no calling hours. A private funeral is planned.
