IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bernard F.
Rogers, Jr.
November 8, 1946 – July 17, 2021
Wilder, VT- Bernard F. Rogers, Jr., 74, died Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Hanover Terrace in Hanover.
Bernie died peacefully with a brother by his side. He was born November 8, 1946 in Lancaster, NH, a son of Bernard and Viola (Johnson) Rogers. He graduated from Hartford High School Class of 1964 and eventually went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration from the University of New Hampshire. The year after high school graduation, he enlisted into the US Air Force as an electronics and communications specialist, serving in Thailand during the Viet Nam conflict. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the Upper Valley where he married Jennifer Crisp and made their home in Canaan until later divorced. He moved to Enfield for a time before taking a position with Liberty Mutual in Portsmouth, NH as an electrician in their data processing center. In 2001, Bernie returned to Hartford where he lived with his father for a time following his mother's passing before moving to Wilder, where he has been since.
Bernie was a member of the Elks BPOE and the American Legion, both in Lebanon, and was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in White River Junction. He loved to play Eight Ball, and was in a league in Claremont for a time. He enjoyed collecting stamps, and also spent some time in Nova Scotia training to be an English as a second Language teacher, and he very much enjoyed traveling in Europe, especially time spent in Germany. Perhaps his greatest joy, as long as he was able, was participating in Volksmarches, both in the US and Europe, or even just walking the historic streets of Portsmouth.
Bernie is survived by three brothers: Larry Rogers of Amherst, NH; Jim Rogers of Farmington, NH; and Darcy Rogers of Lebanon, NH; and two sisters: Sharon Rogers of Wilder and Lori Rogers Gowing of Canaan, NH; eleven nieces and nephews, and eleven grandnieces/nephews.
A graveside service will be held in the Summer Street Cemetery in Lancaster, NH Friday, July 30 at 11AM. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences to Bernie's family may be expressed in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com .
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The American Diabetes Foundation or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
