Bernard P. Moore Sr.
Norwich, Vermont- Bernard P. "Beanie" Moore Sr., 81, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
Beanie was born May 31, 1930 in Hanover, NH, the son of Dennie and Lucie(Hebert) Moore. He lived his entire life in Norwich where he attended Norwich Elementary School and graduate from Hanover High School class of 1948. He was married to Gwen H. Dennis December 20th 1951 in Norwich, they where the first couple to be married at the New St. Francis of Assisi Church. Beanie served his country in the United States Army 1951- 54 during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return he was employed as a boat builder and as a carpenter around the Upper Valley. During this time he built both homes that he and his family lived in. He then went to work as a machinist at Cone Automatic in Windsor and later at NETAM Corporation in Hartland where he retired after 32 years.
Beanie was a parishioner at St. Anthony's Church in White River Junction, VT, a member of the Norwich American Legion post #8, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2571 White River Junction. In his younger years enjoyed hunting, fishing and was on a men's and couples bowling league. He refinished furniture, enjoyed talking about old times and Norwich history, He could be seen daily throughout town on his daily two mile walks, he was an avid sports fan especially the Boston Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics But most of all he enjoyed gathering with and spending time with his family.
He is predeceased by his Brother Henry J. Moore.
He is survived by his Wife of 59 years Gwen Moore of Norwich; three sons, Bernard P Moore Jr. and Wife Debra of White River Junction, William J. Moore and Wife Cathy of Wilder, VT and Daniel A Moore of Enfield, NH; two daughters Diane L. Sargent and husband Donald of Newbury, VT, Susan A Rogers and husband Stuart of Thetford Center, VT, eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a sister M. Irene Moore of Norwich.
Funeral services will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, Monday, August 22, 2011 at 11AM. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Norwich.
