IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bernard W.
Kenyon
October 20, 1936 – May 29, 2025
North Hartland, VT—Bernard "Bernie" Kenyon, 88, died Thursday, May 29, 2025, at his home in North Hartland.
He was born October 20, 1936, to John and Delia (Rabtoy) Kenyon. He grew up in Sharon and attended Hartford High School. Bernie spent some time working for Saint Johnsbury Trucking and Perini Construction. He met the love of his life, Shirlie Flanders, at the 494 Bar in White River Junction. They were married on November 25th, 1966, the day after Thanksgiving that year.
They had three daughters and made their home in Plainfield, NH, and later built a home in Sharon, VT before retiring to North Hartland. Bernie and Shirlie worked side by side, running his trucking and plowing business for many years. They spent 55 years together, eventually semi-retiring to Florida to avoid the harsh Vermont winters. Both Shirlie and Bernie cherished the many friendships they had forged, both at home and in the Sunshine State.
He was predeceased by his wife, Shirlie in 2022; daughters, Lisa Smith and Eileen Burgess; one sister, Elizabeth Spencer; and five brothers, Ralph, Chaunce "Stub", Everett "Bill", Ernest, and John.
Bernie leaves behind a daughter, Koreen Bennett of Sutton, NH, longtime friend, Nancy Downs and her family, as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bernie will be cremated, and his remains laid to rest beside Shirlie in the West Hartford Cemetery. Knight Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook found at www.knightfuneralhomes.com
