Windsor, VT – Bernadette V. Burch, 90, a lifelong Vermonter, died on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Mt. Ascutney Hospital. She was born in Barnard, VT to Raymond C. and Jennie Laverne (Loura) Potwin on October 16, 1932, and spent most of her childhood and young adulthood in Woodstock, where she married Robert F. Burch on February 26, 1949.

Amazing in the kitchen, she loved to create sumptuous meals for family gatherings or entertaining; so much so that her children found dining at home better than going out to a restaurant.  She valued efficiency and attention to detail from herself and others, and her carefully tended outdoor gardens, lawn, and houseplant jungle reflected her care with abundant growth. Throughout their married life the two enjoyed dancing and traveling, often heading out in their camper to explore the United States. After her children were grown, she shared her life and home with a host of small dogs that she lovingly cared for.

She is survived by four children, Stephen Burch and wife Melony of Cornish, NH, Linda J. Penn and husband Ray of Windsor, Robert F. Burch, Jr. of West Windsor, and Marie Roberts Torres and husband Danny of Virginia; one sister, Bertha Pierce of Hartland, VT; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert F. Burch, Sr. and five siblings Veronica Potwin, Francis Potwin, Marie Pratt, Mary Lambert, and Caroline Morse.

A private service will be held at a later date.
