Obituary

Enfield, NH - Barbara Grace Reed, 83, passed away peacefully in her home, on the morning of April 04, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease .

She was born October 17th 1928, in White River Junction VT the daughter of Chester R and Grace E .(Lynch) Fogg. Barbara graduated from Hartford High School, where she was very active in sports. She attended Becker Jr., College, in Worcester, MA., where she graduated as a Medical Secretary. She worked at the VA Hospital near her home, before moving to Hartford, CT. working there as a Medical Secretary.

On November 29, 1953, Barbara and Harry W. Reed were married in White River Jct., VT. The two went on to raise five children in New Lebanon, NY., where they spent the next 32 years. In 1985 Barbara & Harry moved to Enfield, NH., living on Crystal Lake, which Barbara enjoyed as a child. From 1989 to 2006 they ran a bed & breakfast in their home, enjoying all the wonderful guests that came from all over. Barbara worked for the USDA for several years conducting surveys on farming and agriculture covering MA and NH. Barbara was always very active in the Community serving as a member in the Church both at the Congregational Church in New Lebanon NY and at the First Congregational Church in Lebanon NH. She was also a member of the historical society.

Barbara is predeceased by a sister, Selma Tenney and a brother, Chester A. Fogg.

She is survived by her husband Harry of 58 years, four sons, Jeffrey Reed of Barrington, NH; Gregory Reed of Ghent, NY; Christopher Reed of Enfield, NH; Thomas Reed of Southwick, MA; a daughter, Grace (Reed) Keniston of Londonderry, NH; six grandsons and one sister, Jeannette Vankleek, of Port Richey, FL.

A service will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 3 pm, with a reception immediately following at the First Congregational Church of Lebanon, NH. Condolences can be expressed to the family at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
