West Lebanon, NH – Barbara D. Guay, 82, passed away Sunday January 2nd at Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, NH following a short illness.
She was born March 26, 1928 daughter of the late Raymond and Blanche (Whitcomb) DeCoff in Portsmouth, NH. Barbara graduated from High School in Woodstock, VT in 1947. She was married to Lucien M. Guay in Laconia, NH on July 4, 1951 and they moved to West Lebanon shortly after where they lived for 59 years. Mrs. Guay worked in the Banking Business for many years mostly with the First Twinstate Bank, beginning in White River Jct. as a teller and retiring as assistant branch manager in Norwich.
Barbara enjoyed knitting sweaters for family and friends, sewing, quilting and gardening. She especially loved raising and creating different kinds and colors of African Violets. She received her green thumb from her father and many domestic talents from her mother.
She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers Orville, John and Norman DeCoff and a sister Margaret Clark.
She is survived by her husband Lucien of Tilton, NH; three daughters Colleen Young of Newport Richey, FL, Pauline Cote of Barrington, NH and Kathie Batson of Ledyard, CT; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister Eleanor Wright of White River Jct.; god-daughter Naomi Kaplan of West Warwick, RI as well as many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2PM Saturday January 8th at Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon with burial following in the West Lebanon Cemetery.
