White River Jct., Vermont- Avis Elizabeth Donahue, 91, died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab in St. Johnsbury, VT.
Mrs. Donahue was born June 13, 1918 in Canaan, NH a daughter of Carl and Lillian (Jewell) Wolfson. She attended school in Canaan and graduated from Canaan High School class of 1936. She was married to her beloved husband Lloyd J. Donahue November 7, 1942 in White River Jct., VT. During WWII they moved to Southern New Hampshire where she worked at the Naval Shipyard and Sylvania Electric. They then moved back to White River Jct. where they have lived since. She was employed by several families in Hanover, NH as a housekeeper for several years.
Mrs. Donahue was predeceased by her husband Lloyd J. Donahue in 1985. Two brothers, Morris Wolfsohn and Alton Wolfson; and a sister Bernice Shuttleworth.
She is survived by her niece Ethelyn Sargent and family of Littleton, NH; nephew Donnie Wolfson and family of Merrimac, NH; niece-in-law Marie Wolfson and family of Canaan, NH.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 2PM in the Christian Street Cemetery in Wilder, VT. Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT has been entrusted with arrangements.
