WINDSOR, VT
Arlene M. Sabins, 82, a longtime resident of Windsor passed away Thursday morning, June 23, at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.
She was born December 6, 1928 in Eliot, Maine the daughter of Albert and Grace (Dixon) Lord. She received her schooling in Kittery Point, Maine where she graduated from Traip Academy in 1946. She married Kenneth C. Sabins in Kittery Point on November 9, 1947. They moved to Windsor in 1951 when Mr. Sabins began his employment at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. They later lived in Merrimack, NH for four years and returned to Windsor in 1971. Arlene was employed as a nurse's assistant at Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor from 1973 until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of the Ascutney Chapter #2 OES in Windsor. She was longtime member of the John P. Larkin Country Club in Windsor where she played in the women's twilight league. She also golfed in affiliation with the American Lung Association at various country clubs throughout Vermont. She enjoyed golfing, skiing and traveling with her husband and friends and going on ski vacations in Utah and Colorado. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Mr. Sabins passed away September 2, 1986. She was also predeceased by two daughters, Gail Elaine Sabins and Tracy Ellen Sabins, and by one sister, Alethia Norton and one brother, Thomas Spinney.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol A. Denis and her husband, Michael of Manchester, CT, Karen S. Hill of Windsor and Tina Belanger of Windsor, one son, Kenneth R. Sabins of Windsor, five grandchildren, Stephanie Goddard of Enfield, CT, Matthew Denis of Manchester, CT, Dr. Susannah Tung of New York City, Caitlin Sabins of Dover, NH and Kodi Sabins of Windsor, VT, seven great grandchildren, Andrew, Maya and Grace Goddard, Avery and Quinn Denis, Gabriel Tung and Jayla Sullivan, two sisters, Virginia Munz of Manteca, CA and Melba Gunnison of Booth Bay Harbor, ME, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Sunday evening, June 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A committal service will be held at the convenience of her family at a later date in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot, ME.
