Springfield, VT- Anthony "Tony" Roland Godin, 77, died on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in White River Junction, VT, after battling lung cancer.
Tony was born at home in Morrisville, VT, on September 29, 1948, to Roland and Ida (Erno) Godin. He graduated from Stowe High School in 1968 then enlisted in the United States Army on June 28, 1968. He spent 2 years earning the rank of Sargent and was a dedicated member of the 12th cavalry and served in Vietnam. He earned the Vietnam service metal and two campaign stars.
After returning from Vietnam, he went to vocational school and studied carpentry. Tony was a gifted builder/carpenter, who proudly used his talents and built his home in Hyde Park, VT where he raised his family. He has also lived in Topsham, Berlin and most recently in Springfield, VT.
Tony owned Charlie Horse Sleigh & Carriage Ridges and operated out of the Topnotch Resort in Stowe, VT and on Christmas day 1997 he was featured on the front page of the Boston Globe.
Tony enjoyed many activities which included teaching skiing at Stowe Mountain Resort. He was part of the Vermont National Guard. His children enjoyed boating and water skiing on the Green Mountain Reservoir as well as skiing at Stowe. In the later years Tony enjoyed going to the UVM Girls Basketball games with his daughter.
Among his most loyal companions was his beloved Vizsla, Charlie, who brought him years of friendship and comfort. He enjoyed baking apple pies, gardening and took pride in his flower and vegetable gardens.
Tony is survived by his daughter, Danielle Godin (Brennan Jillson) of Bridgewater, VT, son, Benjamin Godin (Gretchen) of Columbia, CT, grandchildren, Tyler, Emily, Jackson, and Carter, as well as one great grandchild expected this fall. Survivors also include his siblings, Bud Godin, Bruce Godin, David Godin, Laurie Godin-Dannat, Lisa Stewart, Laurette Godin, Brian Godin and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother, Francis P. Erno.
A service is being planned to take place at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT at a date to be announced.
