Obituary

Ann "Nancy" Marie Marsden, 78, died Thursday February 27, 2020 at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH.

She was born July 25, 1941 in Providence, RI a daughter of John and Ann (Hall) Burke. Nancy grew up and graduated from high school in Providence. She began playing the drums in high school and was a member of the Rhode Island Philharmonic. After school she went to Italy to study music, especially percussion but was involved in all aspects of music including conducting. After returning to Providence, while playing in The Lady Silvia Trio she fell in love with the band leader and saxophone player, Henry "Hank" Marsden. They renamed the band The Nancy Marie Trio and spent 13 yrs. on the road, traveling throughout New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine, backing shows and playing lounges, while the Marsdens began their family. They settled in Hartland in 1982 and after Hank's death in 1996 Nancy moved to Windsor where she has lived since.

Nancy was a devout member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. She loved writing in her journal and has decades of memories in dozens of journals. Most of all she loved her family and spent as much time with her children and grandchildren as she could.

She was predeceased by her husband, Hank, in 1996 and is survived by her children Mara Schwarz and husband Lincoln of Canaan, NH, Brett Marsden of Rutland, Tobe Panepinto and husband Dana of East Falmouth, MA, Elsann Southwick and Husband Adam of Danvers, MA and Liz Marsden of Belmar, NJ; grandchildren, Colin, Tyler, Alex, Ben, Olivia, Ryder, Cameron, Alexa and Talya; brother, Jack Burke of Englewood, FL and sister, Joan Jackson of North Smithfield, RI.
