Obituary

Hartland, VT – Ann D. Lutter died peacefully at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care on Friday, May 22, 2026. She was 71.

Andi was born on April 18, 1955, in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens, NY to parents Roy A. and Ann (Cane) Lutter. In her early childhood, the family called Williston Park on Long Island home, and they later moved to Woodbury, NY where she graduated from High School. She and her sister Hillie loved spending summers with her grandparents at Saranac Lake, NY. While she pursued an interest in psychology at Hartwick College, her parents and younger sister moved to the Upper Valley; after completing her bachelor's degree and living in California and Wisconsin, she joined them. She loved the Hartland community and remained rooted there for the rest of her life.

Andi’s career in systems administration began at Dartmouth Medical Center but she soon moved to Mt. Ascutney Hospital, where she worked for almost two decades. There she helped transition the hospital through the Dartmouth merger and formed many long-time relationships with colleagues. Post-retirement, she started her own successful business, OutsideIn Soaps, selling handmade, all natural soaps online and at local farmers’ markets.

Andi loved being outside in the summer, the hotter the better. At home she would often read on her porch, bike, hike, or kayak and she always jumped at the opportunity for a trip to the beach to enjoy the waves, sand, and sun. She loved hot yoga, which helped to get her through the long, cold winters. She was a foodie before it was a thing and adored butter.

She is survived by her son, Cole Lutter and fiancé, Taylor Goss of Hartland, VT; sister, Hillie Lutter of Stow, ME; nephew, Keegan Julian and wife, Christina of Norwich, VT; her beloved dog, Rocky and cat, Trixie; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

At her request, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to the Upper Valley Humane Society (uvhs.org) or the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care (dartmouth-hitchcock.org/jack-byrne-center).
