Obituary

NORWICH, VERMONT-

Anita M. Lathrop, 72, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born July 12, 1938 in New York, New York a daughter of William Q. and Marie (Vitolo) DeNatle. She was raised in Yonkers, New York and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Yonkers. She attended Boston University and completed her Bachelors at Goddard College. She was married to Richard T. Lathrop in 1959 they continued to live in Boston and in 1963 they moved to Norwich where she raised her family. They were divorced in 1970. She worked with children over the years and in 1984 co-founded Red Room Day Care in Wilder retiring in 2005.
She was involved in the women's liberation movement and had a true sense of place in her community and life. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, and being involved with her grandchildren.
She is survived by four sons Richard Lathrop III of Wilder, Vermont David Lathrop of Montpelier, Vermont, Jeffrey Lathrop of Barre, Vermont and Anthony Lathrop of Jamaica Plains, Massachusetts ;7 grandchildren Two Brothers William Q. DeNatle Jr. of New York, New York and John DeNatle of Brooklyn, New York; a sister Marie DeNatle of New York, New York
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with the arrangements.
