Hartland, VT- Anita H. Gokey, 74, died at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, after a long courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
She was born August 10, 1941 in Corinth, VT the daughter of Elwin and Viola Mae(Tyler) Hastings. She graduated from Bradford Academy class of 1959. She was married Richard Gokey March 4, 1967. She worked at the Vermont Heel Company in Wilder, VT until her diagnosis with MS in the 1980's. She enjoyed her time at adult daycare in Springfield, VT where she would help out in the kitchen until she was no longer capable of doing so.
Anita enjoyed Knitting, crocheting and playing cards with family and friends. But her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is predeceased by a brother Rodger Hastings and two sisters Susan and Corlene Ordway.
Anita is survived by her husband Richard Gokey of Hartland, two sons, Bruce Gokey and his wife Melissa of Wilder, VT and their children Cody and Emily, James Gokey of Standish, ME and his children Tommy and Hannah; daughter Amy Lockwood and her husband Bob of Bradford, VT, their children Ryan and Charles; five great-grandchildren; brother Richard Hastings of Bradford and sister Virginia Ordway of Fairlee, VT.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 14 at 10am at the Hilltop Cemetery in Quechee, VT. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangement.
