Born Anita Marie Truduelle on 12/11/1919 in New Bedford, Mass to Leonide and Yvonne (Caron) Trudelle , she was the middle girl of 6 children, graduated from New Bedford Vocational Technical School in 1938 and met Ernest E. Barrett in Windsor, Vt while he was working with her brother, Clarence, on what was to become the Mt. Ascutney Auto Road and associated campgrounds and stone buildings. They were married in Watertown, NY just prior to Ernie being deployed to France and the Battle of the Bulge in WWII.

In 1949 they bought in Plainfield what was to become her home for next 67 years.

She was employed by Bill Jenny at Plainfield Frozen Foods as his book keeper for many years, she volunteered as a girl scout and 4H instructor, as well as ballot clerk in Plainfield and with the Philip Read Memorial Library as trustee intermittently for many years.

Her love of reading and knowledge in general brought lifelong joy to her and her family. She always said "I like to be kind to everyone" and she followed that without fail. She was a devout Catholic and believed in the good of all people. First and foremost, she loved her family.

She is pre-deceased by her husband, Ernie, as well as all her brothers and sisters. She leaves two adopted children- Kevin Barrett and partner, Donna Langlais of Wilder, Vt and Julie Barrett Murray and her husband, James of Plainfield, NH , grandchildren Abi and Eric in Florida, two great grand daughters, Lucy and Eliza, her especially loved "second" daughter, Lucille Young of Torrington, Ct. and many other family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 15 at 1:00 PM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. The Rev. Raphael Nyabenda will be the Celebrant. Committal services will be held at the convenience of her family.
