Andrew E. Flinn
Proctorsville, VT – Andrew Eugene Flinn, 88, died peacefully on April 1st at Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, VT.
He was born the oldest of seven children on March 4, 1923 in Roxbury, VT the son of William Eugene and Geneva (Martin) Flinn. Andrew attended school in Roxbury and later served with the US Army. He moved to Windsor, VT in 1950 and began working at Cone-Blanchard Machine. He was married to Jeanette Sullivan in 1953; they moved to Brownsville in 1954 where they raised their family. Mr. Flinn retired after 36 years of service to Cone-Blanchard in 1986. Due to declining eyesight he has lived with his devoted son-in-law Rule Blaise and grandson Eric Blaise in Proctorsville for the past twelve years.
Mr. Flinn was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor where he was a 4th Degree Member of the Knight's of Columbus. He was a life member of the B.P.O.Elks #1665 in Windsor where he was a Past-Exalted Ruler. He was an avid historian and enjoyed gardening and loved going for walks and the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.
He is predeceased by an infant daughter Kathleen and a daughter Linda Ely; a son William Henry Flinn; three sisters Teresa Bean, and Clara and Martha Flinn and a brother Patrick Flinn.
Andrew is survived by his ex-wife Jeanette Flinn of Brownsville and their children, Audrey Flinn of Arlington, VA, Maurice Flinn and his partner Peggy Mowers of Enfield, NH, Michael Flinn of Brownsville, VT, Robert Flinn and his wife Barbara of Ascutney, VT, Tim Flinn and his partner Sherry Barbour of Brownsville, VT, Steven Flinn and his partner Lorraine Hobbs of Windsor, VT and Patricia Flinn of Ascutney, VT; grandchildren Hanna, Michele, Lisa, Matt and wife Jill, Mark, Tim and wife Casey, Jeffrey and Eric; several great-grandchildren; two sisters Katherine Smith and her companion Donald of Northfield, VT and Margaret Willey of Northfield, VT as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT Wednesday April 6th from 6-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday April 7th at 11AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor.
