White River Jct., VT – Alta Donaldson Nardine, 96, died Thursday afternoon at the Hanover Terrace in Hanover, NH. She was born August 31, 1919 in Swanton, VT the daughter of Edward and Charlotte (Stearns) Donaldson. Alta graduated from Swanton High School and attended Johnson Normal School.

She married Leo J. Nardine in January of 1943 in Windsor, VT they moved to White River Jct., VT in 1951 where she worked at the Tip Top Bakery. She later worked at Brookside Nursing Home as a kitchen aide where she worked for over twenty years.

Mr. Nardine died Sept. 9, 1975.

Alta enjoyed crocheting and rug latching. She was an active member of the Cascadnac Grange in Hartford, VT for over sixty years and a lifetime member of the National Grange.

Alta was predeceased by her husband, two step sons, Leo J. Nardine Jr., Ronald Nardine, her brother, Edward Donaldson, two half brothers, Carleton Donaldson, Donald Donaldson, two sisters, Ruth Meigs and Edith Belliveau

She is survived by her two sons, David J. Nardine of White River Jct., VT, Robert E. Nardine of Lake City, Florida, step son Frank Nardine of Chicago, IL, three grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 1:30PM in the Riverside Cemetery in Swanton, VT.
