Allegra M. Herbert, 86, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Brookside Nursing Home in Wilder, VT.

She was born February 19, 1927 in Leicester, VT a daughter of Walter and Lena (McIntyre) White. She attended the Brandon Schools and later moved to Windsor where she worked for a time at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. Where she met and married her husband Everett Hathorn in 1950. They continued to live in Windsor into the mid 50's when they moved to West Hartford for a time with a short stay in White River Junction before moving back out to West Hartford. Everett died in 1972. She was later married to Charles Herbert in 1976 until his death in 1986.

Allegra enjoyed working in her garden, spending time on the river fishing, but most all she enjoyed spending as much of her free time with her family and her friends.

She is predeceased by her two husbands; a daughter Donna Hathorn a brother, Alfred White; and a sister Veronica White.


She is survived by a son Lee Hathorn of West Hartford; a daughter Carol Mason of Fairlee, VT; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry White, and two sisters Rose Gearwar and Natalie Colburn all of Pittsford.

A graveside memorial service will be held Monday, May 20, 2013 at the West Hartford Cemetery in West Hartford, VT at 1PM. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction Assisted with arrangements.
