WEST WINDSOR, VT
Allan E. Snyder, 86, a resident of West Windsor, passed away Tuesday morning, April 14 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor. He was born December 7, 1928 in Beirut, Lebanon. He graduated from Exeter High School in Exeter, NH and later attended and graduated from Stanford University in 1951. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he served as a gunnery officer on Destroyer Rooks during the Korean Conflict from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955. He earned his Master's Degree from the School of Labor and Industrial Relations at Cornell University and worked for development and resources in New York. He married Bette Trimble in Scotch Plains, New Jersey on June 16, 1962. Mr. Snyder later went to work for Kennecott Copper and in 1974 he and his wife moved to Houston, Texas. They returned to New York in 1981 and in 1984 they moved to Vermont to live in their home that they purchased as a weekend home in 1968.
Allan loved doing mechanical work on cars, sailing, and following world affairs, especially those of the Middle East.
Survivors include his wife, Bette T. Snyder of West Windsor, two sons Evan Scott Snyder and his wife, Trish of Auckland, New Zealand, and Jonathan Snyder and his wife, Stephanie of Novato, CA, two grandchildren, Cole Jackson Snyder and Ava Remick Snyder both of Novato, CA, one sister, Carlene Snyder Howland of Arroyo Grande, CA, four nieces, one nephew, four grand nieces and four grand nephews.
At Mr. Snyder's request there will be no formal services.
The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor assisted with the arrangements.
