Obituary

White River Jct., VT – Alice Louise Wright, 88, passed away Tuesday June 17, 2014 at Genesis Eldercare Lebanon Center from congestive heart failure.

Alice was born March 23, 1926 to John and Mildred Fuller in Center Conway, NH. Her father was a traveling salesman and her mother took in sewing jobs in her home. Since her father was a traveling salesman, the family moved several times while she was growing up, living in towns throughout New Hampshire and in Portland, ME.

She came to White River Jct., VT in 1941 and graduated from Hartford High School in 1944. Upon graduation she worked as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank in White River Jct. She married Stanley Wright in 1949 and they lived in White River Jct. raising their two daughters, Susan and Karen. They were divorced in 1977 and Alice returned to work, first in the Town of Hartford Lister's Office and later owned and operated the Taft Dairy Bar during the summers.

She was a member of the White River Junction United Methodist Church where she was active in different capacities, including the Turkey Suppers and singing in the church choir. She was presented a certificate of appreciation for her work on behalf of the church over the years and her wonderful encouraging way that helped others feel good about what they do both in the church and in their communities. She was known by many as the "Pie Lady" for all of the delicious pies she made and recruited for the church suppers.

Alice was a former member of the Wilder Women's Club and a Girl Scout Leader, once taking her troop on a nine mile hike. She was also a former member of the Hartford Players in which she had a role in the stage production of The Pirates of Penzance.

After her retirement she traveled to many place including the Bahamas' and Jamaica with her companion, Ronald Bean, and also to Newport Beach, CA to several jazz festivals.

She loved her family and enjoyed caring for her granddaughters and having her great-grandson visit her as well as enjoying the friendship of many.

She leaves her daughters Susan Crowe and husband Glenn of West Lebanon, NH and Karen Wright of White River Jct., VT; brothers Francis Reginald Fuller and wife Olive of Keene, NH and Robert Fuller of Vergennes, VT; granddaughters Rachel Ensign and husband Peter of Wilmot, NH, Sarah Allen of White River Jct., VT, Mia Crowe Miller and husband Nicholas of West Lebanon; a great-grandson Brody; longtime friend Ronald Bean and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of her life will be celebrated Tuesday June 24th at 3PM at the White River Junction United Methodist Church.
