White River Jct., VT – Alice M. Severance, 88, died Saturday afternoon, May 10, at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Jct., VT. She was born, July 23, 1925 in Kington, England the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Henn) Jeffrey.

She grew up and attended school in England. Alice met Gordon Severance while he was serving with the US Army in World War II and moved to the United States shortly after the war. They were married May 3, 1947 at Our Lady of the Snow Church in Woodstock, VT. After raising her seven children Alice worked for many years as a waitress at the Tally House Restaurant in White River Jct., VT. Alice was an active and devoted member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and attended prayer group. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Alice enjoyed reading, cooking, canning, baking and gardening. She loved vacationing with her family in Maine at the beach. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband; a son, Jeffrey Severance; three brothers, Peter, Steve and Charles Jeffrey and two sisters, Frances Bowen and Marion Ward.

She is survived by three sons, John Severance of Norwich, VT, Michael Severance of Colchester, VT, Paul Severance of Springfield, VT; three daughters, Mary Brower of White River Jct., VT, Karen Severance of Wilder VT and Diane Nadeau of Sharon, VT; thirteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Gilbert of England and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening, May 13 from 6-8 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 14 at 10AM at St. Anthony's Church in White River Jct. with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
