Albert L. Langlois, died peacefully, Friday night, January 5, 2024, at Lebanon Center Genesis Eldercare Facility in Lebanon, NH at the age of 84.
Albert was born September 27, 1939, in Shoreham, VT, the son of Jesse and Grace (McCabe) Langlois. His family moved to the Upper Valley, and he graduated from Hartford High School in 1957. He worked for a time in the bake shop at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital where he met his future wife, Betty L. Smith. In 1962, they were married in Wilder, VT. Shortly after, they built their home on Bradley Hill in Norwich, VT, where they resided the rest of their lives. For a time, Albert found work at Twin State Electric in White River Jct., VT and then later with Frank T. Cody Electric before he began his long career at Dan & Whit's. Albert was a "fixture" at Dan & Whit's with is familiar face and warm smile. He worked in the hardware department there for nearly thirty-two years before retiring in 2013.
Albert enjoyed his family, and friends, including walks with his wife, Betty. He loved old cars, trucks, and his Shetland Sheepdogs. Reading provided him with much entertainment from novels to equipment operating manuals. In his later years, helping his son with his beef farm provided enjoyment. Albert loved spending time with grandson, Jackson. He was his little buddy, and they spent many hours together walking and playing.
Albert leaves his son, Mark S. Langlois (Stephanie Johnson); and grandson, Jackson A. Langlois, all of Norwich. He is also survived by his brothers, Lawrence and David of Hartford, VT, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Betty, and two brothers, Robert Langlois, and Richard Langlois.
Following his cremation, a memorial service will be held Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 1-3PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. A private burial in the Hillside Cemetery in Norwich, VT will take place in the spring at the convenience of the family.
