Obituary

Wilder, VT – Adeline D. Hugo, 93, died Saturday December 26th at Valley Terrace in Wilder, VT.

She was born November 30, 1916 in Dedham, MA a daughter of James R. and Katherine (Amory) Hooper.  She attended the Dedham Country Day School and graduated from Milton Academy in Dedham and later from the New England Conservatory of Music.  She lived in Boston for many years where she danced with the Jan Veen Dance Company which performed in association with the Boston Pops Orchestra.  She was married to Howard E. Hugo in 1949 and they moved to Berkley, CA in 1958 where they lived the rest of their married lives.  While in Berkley, Mrs. Hugo was active at St. Mark's Episcopal Church where she served the parish through the churches music program with dance, bells and timpani.  She developed a liturgical signed dance so that hearing impaired parishioners could further enjoy the church liturgy.  She also remained active in politics while in Berkley.  Mrs. Hugo has been a resident of Valley Terrace in Wilder since June of 2005.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1978 as well as two brothers Frederick A. Hooper and James R. Hooper.

Mrs. Hugo is survived by a daughter Sophie Starr and two beloved grandsons Lucas and Casey Starr all of Hartland, VT.  She is also survived by a brother William Hooper of Yellow Springs, OH, two sister-in-laws Helen Hooper of Boston, MA and Alice Hooper of Mclean, VA as well as many loved nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and a great niece and 2 great nephews.

A memorial service will be celebrated at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in White River Jct. January 9th at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.  Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. assisted with arrangements.
