We had the opportunity to know your lovely Doobie while working on projects with the CIA here in St Helena. What a wonderful outgoing, kind, extremely talented man and such a thoughtful one as well. He brought us out all kinds of maple sugar treats from your part of the world when he came out here to work. My husband, Jim, really enjoyed working with him and we are so very sorry for your terrible loss. Our sympathy goes out to all of you.

I wish to express my deepest sympathies to the Nowlan Family. Doobie will be missed beyond what mere words could express. Doobie spent his whole life dedicated to lifting people up through his work, his dedication to his Family and his devotion to Heather, Monet, and Teelin. I am so very sorry for your loss of Doobie Dan and Tina Mc Devitt

It without doubt a struggle to comprehend Doobie’s passing so early in life. We were friends and although I didn’t see him all that much I felt like I knew him -really knew him and the generous artistic heart that was so easy and fun to be around. I would guess many feel this way. Years ago we collaborated on a public park proposal in Burlington (I the architect, he the sculptor) and I have always since regretted not getting to work with him. But it is his work with his hands that will forever be with us, as he in our hearts.

Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. There are never any words to express feelings at a time such as this. I was fortunate to meet him three years ago when I learned to appreciate him as a fellow artist and his skillful and beautiful art work. He reminded me when I first met him, when I first opened Nuance Gallery, in Windsor, "not to forget to take the time to smell the roses." Take care, Nancy

Lizanne and I, as well as the Williamson Family, were all deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Doobie. It is too young of an age for a man, husband, father, brother, and cousin to be called home to the Lord. We extend our sorrow to his wife, children and family. The Nowlans have been long time friends of ours and I fondly remember my last conversation with Doobie about Joe Fraziers statue and Joe Hand, who was part of the Cloverlay Corp that managed Joe Frazier. God Bless and watch over all of you

Doobie was a wonderfully kind and generous man who was able to share his love of life with all. He was one of the leading young sculturors in America and a good friend for many years. He made everyone he met feel understood and very special. His legacy will live on. Jane and Ted

I knew Doobie only a short time but I quickly realized what an extraordinary person he was. He gave of himself freely and was always willing to lend an ear. His thoughts and suggestions where made with clarity and wisdom. I am sorry I did not meet him earlier in my life however I am grateful for the time I did have with this wonderful man.

I am so sorry for your loss. I could not believe it when I heard. He has been taken from this world too soon. He is so talented and has so much art out there just remember that he will be everywhere you look and he loves you all very much.

Dear Heather,

Although I met Doobie only once, and spent a only few hours with him as a new neighbor, we had made plans already on sledding, clearing wood with the chainsaw, and visiting the studio. I looked forward so much to those things, and to enjoying his company for years to come. As I read through the comments I see that my experience was not unique. We have lost such a wonderful human being.

Sometimes the Gardener sees such a beautiful flower that He decides it needs a transplant to a greater garden earlier than we here would plan.

Love to you, the children, and all the family, Marilyn
