White River Jct., VT – Robert P. “Bob” Gaucher, 79, died Friday morning, April 13, 2012 at his home in White River Jct., VT. He was born January 29, 1933 in Spencer, MA the son of Albert and Corrine (Lamothe) Gaucher. He grew up and attended school in Spencer. Bob enlisted in the US Air Force in 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and went to work delivering milk for the Hood Company. April 12, 1958 he married Jane Christian of Spencer, MA. Bob went to work as a salesman for Millbrook, a health and beauty supply company. They moved to North Hartland, VT in 1966 and shortly after Bob opened a warehouse for Millbrook so he could supply all the local P&C Grocery Stores with Health and Beauty Products. In 1979 he opened BG’s Market in Hartland, VT. He operated the store for many years before selling it to his son in 2004. Following his retirement he and his wife purchased a condominium in Margate, Fl. It was here that they would spend their winter months and return to Vermont when the weather got warmer. Bob was a member of the Hartland American Legion Post #48, the Elks Lodge #1541 in White River Jct., VT. St. Anthony’s Church in White River Jct., the Retail Grocer Association and the John P. Larkin Country Club in Windsor, VT where he served on several committees.
Bob enjoyed golfing both in Windsor and Florida and playing cards with his friends. Bob loved the people of Hartland and visiting with them in the store even after his retirement he enjoyed stopping in to shoot the breeze with whom ever was there. But most of all he loved watching his grandchildren at sporting events. From t-ball to high school games, Bob rarely missed and event.
He was predeceased by two brothers, George and Armand, five sisters, Cecile Letendre, Gert Balchunas, Patsy Shea, Annette Dunlap and Clair Gaucher.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, a son, William “Bill” Gaucher of Hartland, VT, a daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Jay Waterman of White River Jct., VT, two grandchildren, Benjamin and Morgan, a brother, Emile Gaucher of Spencer, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday evening April 16, from 6-8PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning, April 17, at 10AM at St. Anthony Church in White River Jct., VT
